BBQ Sauce with Turmeric

From the Skinny Chef: This sweet and spicy delight works well with tofu or chicken.  It tastes sweet like traditional BBQ only is has just a tablespoon of brown sugar compared to the store bought version which is usually packed with high fructose corn syrup.

Makes about 2 cups of sauce

Ingredients:
1 14-ounce can of fat-free, reduced sodium beef or vegetable broth
1 6-ounce can of tomato paste
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons sweet chili powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 bay leaves
3 whole cloves
1 teaspoon turmeric
3 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed

Place all together in a medium saucepan and whisk until smooth.  Bring to a boil then reduce to low heat.  Simmer 15-20 minutes until the mixture is thick.  Remove garlic, bay leaves and cloves.  Top on cooked chicken or tofu and serve immediately.

The instructions say to remove the bay leaves but the recipe doesn't call for bay leaves but sage leaves instead. What gives?

Robert,
Thanks for your comment! For this recipe, it's two bay leaves.
